The P2P crypto exchange landscape, and how to pick from it
P2P exchanges come in three shapes: P2P desks run by large global exchanges, dedicated single-market P2P platforms, and non-custodial or no-KYC marketplaces. Which is best depends on your market and payment rails — so score candidates on escrow, counterparty verification, dispute process and record export rather than on a ranked list.
Every "top 10 P2P exchanges" list you will find is either written by one of the platforms on it or by an affiliate paid per signup. This one is written by a platform too — so instead of ranking, here is the landscape and the method. Score the candidates yourself.
The three shapes
| Type | Who runs them | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| P2P desk inside a global exchange | Binance, OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, HTX and similar | You want one account across many assets and markets |
| Dedicated single-market P2P platform | Built around one country's payment rails — FastXP2P for India | The P2P trade itself is the product you need |
| Non-custodial / no-KYC marketplace | Bisq, Hodl Hodl, RoboSats and similar | You prioritise self-custody and privacy over speed and liquidity |
Score them, don't rank them
Four criteria decide whether a bad trade is recoverable. Everything else is an optimisation.
- 1Escrow timing. Is the crypto locked *before* the buyer pays? Open a small order and watch.
- 2Counterparty verification. Can you see standing, completed volume and verification status before committing?
- 3Dispute process. Is the accepted evidence documented anywhere, or decided case by case?
- 4Record export. Can you download order history with IDs and timestamps? You will need it for tax, and possibly for a bank query months later.
Then, and only then, compare price — using a live quote from each at the same moment, because a comparison made an hour apart measures the market rather than the platform.
Compare any P2P offer
Paste the rate another platform is quoting you and see which one actually leaves you better off.
You supply the other platform's rate and fee — FastXP2P does not publish or estimate anyone else's pricing. Our side uses the live rate above.
What matters specifically in India
- UPI and IMPS support at your bank's actual limits, not in theory.
- Bank-freeze reality. A platform built for India has to treat lien risk as core; a global product treats it as an edge case.
- 1% TDS mechanics that assume no exchange is deducting on your behalf — how that works.
- Small minimums, so your first trade with any platform can be cheap to get wrong.
The full twelve-test version of this method is in the comparison checklist.
Run the four criteria on a ₹500 trade and judge for yourself.

Which P2P exchange is the best?
There is no single best. Score candidates on whether crypto is escrowed before payment, whether counterparties are verified, how disputes are decided, and whether you can export order records — then compare live quotes at the same moment.
What are the main types of P2P exchange?
P2P desks inside large global exchanges, dedicated platforms built around one market's payment rails, and non-custodial or no-KYC marketplaces. They trade off liquidity, local fit and privacy differently.
Which P2P exchange is best in India?
Whichever handles UPI and IMPS at your bank's real limits, escrows crypto before payment, verifies counterparties, and gives you exportable records. Those are testable on a ₹500 trade.
