Verify the buyer before you release USDT: a 60-second routine
Before releasing USDT, confirm four things in your own banking app: the credit has settled, the amount matches exactly, the sender's name matches the counterparty, and the payment came from a normal personal account. If any check fails, dispute rather than release.
Selling is the riskier side of a P2P trade. The buyer's exposure ends when the crypto arrives; yours continues for as long as the rupees can be traced backwards. These four checks are the whole defence.
Check 1 — has it settled?
Open your banking app and look at the available balance. Not the notification, not the SMS, not the buyer's screenshot. A pending credit is not a credit.
Check 2 — does the amount match exactly?
₹4,850 against a ₹48,500 order is a deliberate tactic that relies on you reading the shape of the number rather than the number. Read the digits.
Check 3 — does the name match?
The sender must be the counterparty on the order. This is the check that keeps other people's stolen money out of your account, and it is the one most often waived because the explanation sounded fine. Why third-party payments are the whole risk.
Check 4 — does the origin look ordinary?
- A remark like *gift*, *salary* or *refund* on a trade payment is a flag, not a quirk.
- Many small transfers from several accounts to make up one order amount is a flag.
- A rate well above market, paired with pressure to hurry, is a flag.
Bank-freeze exposure check
Tick what is already true of how you trade. The gaps are where a lien gets in.

Fix these first
- • The crypto is held in escrow until INR is confirmed
- • The counterparty's bank account is verified by the platform
- • The sender's name matches the counterparty's name exactly
This scores your own habits — it is not a prediction, and it is not legal advice. If your account is already under lien, talk to a lawyer and file with the cyber cell immediately.
Trade with vetted merchants, so check three is answered before the order even opens.

What if the amount is slightly short because of bank charges?
Treat any shortfall as a failed check and raise it in the order. Legitimate counterparties will top it up; the tactic depends on you waving it through.
How long should I wait before releasing?
As long as it takes for the credit to appear as settled in your banking app. The order timer is designed to accommodate that.
